After consistent improvement all year we were once again looking to step up our game. On the first day we delivered exactly what we needed - two consistent results left us in the top 15. Day 2 brought beautiful sailing conditions with 14-20 knots blowing straight off the land, making for perfectly flat water and really fast racing. They held 4 races and we posted a 17, 9, 6, 1! Improving through every race and not only showing our speed but also our physical and mental endurance by winning the last race of a long day. Day 3 saw only one light air race where we picked the wrong side of the course but battled our way through the fleet to hold onto another solid finish. Day 4 saw another long day for us and once again our coach Ian preached consistency, we were 9 points out of the medal race and with 4 races left we needed to put some points on our close competitors. We raced hard, taking top 10's in 3 out of the 4 races and walked away meeting our regatta goal of making the medal race!
Being part of the medal race at a World Cup in itself is a feat. Points were very close between boats ranks 5th-10th so there was a possibility of moving up the scoresheet. We sailed a clean race to finish 7th in the medal race, which allowed up to climb the leaderboard one place to 9th overall. We are very happy with our improvement over the last months and will continue to push even harder as we refine our racing skills.
